Cues

Transfer of contextual cueing in full-icon display remapping.

Journal Title:
Publication Date:
Feb 27, 2013

Invariant spatial context can expedite visual search, an effect that is known as contextual cueing (e.g., Chun & Jiang, 1998). However, disrupting learned display configurations abolishes the effect.

MeSH Terms:

Real-time electronic diary reports of cue exposure and mood in the hours before cocaine and heroin craving and use.

Publication Date:
Jan 06, 2009

CONTEXT: In ecological momentary assessment (EMA), participants electronically report their activities and moods in their daily environments in real time, enabling a truly prospective approach to the study of acute precipitants of behavioral events.

SMS text messaging as a means of increasing recall of therapy goals in brain injury rehabilitation: a single-blind within-subjects trial.

Publication Date:
Dec 16, 2009

A single-blind within-subjects trial was used to test the efficacy of sending SMS text messages to patients with a traumatic brain injury as a means of improving their recall of rehabilitation goals.

Impact of varenicline on cue-specific craving assessed in the natural environment among treatment-seeking smokers.

Journal Title:
Publication Date:
Aug 14, 2012

RATIONALE: Varenicline is believed to work, in part, by reducing craving responses to smoking cues and by reducing general levels of craving; however, these hypotheses have never been evaluated with craving assessed in the natural environments of treatment-seeking smokers.

Implicit theory manipulations affecting efficacy of a smartphone application aiding speech therapy for Parkinson's patients.

Publication Date:
Sep 07, 2012

A Smartphone speech-therapy application (STA) is being developed, intended for people with Parkinson's disease (PD) with reduced implicit volume cues. The STA offers visual volume feedback, addressing diminished auditory cues.

Head up versus head down: the costs of imprecision, unreliability, and visual clutter on cue effectiveness for display signaling.

Journal Title:
Publication Date:
Jan 01, 2004

We conducted 2 experiments to investigate the clutter-scan trade-off between the cost of increasing clutter by overlaying complex information onto the forward field of view using a helmet-mounted display (HMD) and the cost of scanning when presenting this information on a handheld display.
